About how long does it take people to go to work in los angeles

how long does it take people to go to work in los angeles?
let's say you work in burbank or santa clarita, or even los angeles and u have the typical 8-5 schedule and you live about 10 miles away...how long would it take cause of traffic? I don't want to live in downtown because I heard theres some real nuts out there...but I might have to work there and alot of ppl but don't necessarily live there...what is a SAFE place to live that is close from downtown? so I dont have to leave like 2 hours for work! some PPl say on here if there like 20 miles away from work they leave like 2 -hours before! holy crap! who would want to do that! geez! to get* to work.....I don't want to have to drive like 2 hours to get work....when I live like 25 miles or so thats just crazy! I don't know anyone who would want to do that unless if there making real good money how do those ppl get there sleep!

I work 10 miles from my house and it's about a 45 minute drive each way. Some cool places that you might look into and is pretty close to the downtown area (and I agree, not a great place to live) is Silverlake, Echo Park, Los Feliz, and the Wilshire District. From there, your drive will be somewhere around 20 to 40 minutes.

I lived in Southern California many years ago. While there, I lived first in Los Angeles, then I moved to Monrovia, then to Pasadena, then to Covina, then back to Virginia When I lived in Monrovia and Covina, it took me 45 minutes to drive the 18 miles to Los Angeles on the San Bernardino Freeway. When I lived in Pasadena, I also worked there and frequently rode a bicycle the three miles to work. Things have changed since then, so I don't know where it is safe to live or how long a commute takes. I have a niece who lives in Pasadena, but she also works there, so I know her commute shouldn't take long. Last I heard, Pasadena is still a good place to live, and a quick commute on the freeway.

Working in Burbank, Santa Clarita or LA? They are all in different parts of LA County and it's impossible to give a reasonable answer as to how long it would take to get there without knowing the starting point. If you work in Santa Clarita, live there. Burbank is about 30 minutes from Santa Clarita and unless you take MetroLink, it's 1 to 2 hours to downtown LA from there.

If you live in Santa Clarita, everything will be 30mins -1hr away.. the valley, downtown, beach. Traffic is particularly hideous coming from this area & the N. Valley. I live in Santa Monica which is about 15 miles from Downtown. It would take probably 30-45 minutes to get there for a 8am work start. I work in near Universal City (E. Valley) and it takes me 40 minutes to get to work & it's only about 15-20 miles. Traffic is moving so it's not that bad...

I live 25 miles from my work and it takes 1hr - 1:20 to get to work with trafic. Coming home at 5 should be a problem. say u go out for dinner first then come home. 7pm+ = loads less trafic
