About how long would you commute to work in los angeles

how long would you commute to work in los angeles?
i've been looking at job postings and ones that i want seem to be in downtown la, santa monica, or beverley hills, but i live in the torrance area. is it worth it? i don't know what it's like to commute every day with the traffic so how far or how long would you travel for work in la? how long do you think it would take me? if they say local applicants only, do i qualify?

Depends which part of L.A you live in, L.A is enormous and its got horrible traffic.

When they say local only they mean applicants from within the Southland. They do not want to have to deal with people moving from out of state. And Torrance to Santa Monica or Beverly Hills is a rather short commute by LA standards. One of the engineers where I work in South Orange County commutes from Torrance. I commute 20 miles each way myself to and from work.

If you're desperate for the job, then I would take it. Commuting even a short distance in LA is bad, but what can you do- you need money. If the job is in downtown you might be able to take the MTA blue line. Local applicants means anyone in southern California. In other words, they aren't going to provide relocation assistance.

30 minute drive would be OK.

Driving in L.A. would be great if it wasn't for the fact that half the drivers on the roads are idiots.......the other half are morons. I live less than 20 minutes from where I work in a mid-size Ventura County city. Morning traffic is nothing using surface streets, coming home we have the same problem as in L.A. Too many people is the problem....and little, if any, enforcement of traffic laws.
