Real early.
2 :
never
3 :
depends where your friend will be living exactly but for example, if they were living in Santa Clarita area and want to get to downtown L.A. I would leave by 7am or if they want to push it by 7:30 am to be there by 9 am. It all really depends where they will be travelling from (and maybe even how well they can maneuver through traffic)
4 :
Have him set off at 5am at the latest.
5 :
depends on whether he has to take the freeway because a 15 min drive can easily become an hour and a half, especially if he is driving towards LA in the morning.
6 :
Yeah, Never. It's never a good time to drive in LA. your friend will lose half his life in traffic there. Be warned!
7 :
Sunday mornings, and late nights - that goes for all big cities. If your friend wants to be there at 9AM, depending upon how far away the job is, I would say to leave MINIMUM 2 hours before he has to be there.
8 :
around midnight and take breakfast with him and sleep in the parking garage until 8:30, more power to him but have you seen the television shows that show the commuting around there, it's scary.
9 :
hhhhmmm shd be ard 5.30am cos i start work at lax by 7am

About how long would you commute to work in los angeles
how long would you commute to work in los angeles?
i've been looking at job postings and ones that i want seem to be in downtown la, santa monica, or beverley hills, but i live in the torrance area. is it worth it? i don't know what it's like to commute every day with the traffic so how far or how long would you travel for work in la? how long do you think it would take me? if they say local applicants only, do i qualify? Depends which part of L.A you live in, L.A is enormous and its got horrible traffic.
2 :
When they say local only they mean applicants from within the Southland. They do not want to have to deal with people moving from out of state. And Torrance to Santa Monica or Beverly Hills is a rather short commute by LA standards. One of the engineers where I work in South Orange County commutes from Torrance. I commute 20 miles each way myself to and from work.
3 :
If you're desperate for the job, then I would take it. Commuting even a short distance in LA is bad, but what can you do- you need money. If the job is in downtown you might be able to take the MTA blue line. Local applicants means anyone in southern California. In other words, they aren't going to provide relocation assistance.
4 :
30 minute drive would be OK.
5 :
Driving in L.A. would be great if it wasn't for the fact that half the drivers on the roads are idiots.......the other half are morons. I live less than 20 minutes from where I work in a mid-size Ventura County city. Morning traffic is nothing using surface streets, coming home we have the same problem as in L.A. Too many people is the problem....and little, if any, enforcement of traffic laws.

Why are so many illegal immigrants finding good work in Los Angeles?
And why are they leaving such countries as Mexico? Is it greed, or poverty? Other - Society & Culture - 4 Answers

Do you have any link that supports your answer?? I live in LA, and see many people who are illegal having a bad job.... No benefits, minimum wage, etc.. I dont know if you consider that a good job..
2 :
It may be because it's so close to the Mexican border. And I don't think it has anything to do with greed or poverty. I think they just want a better life like the rest of us.
3 :
I've never been to L.A. so I'm not going to speculate on what goes on out there. But I have lived in Fla. S.C. and Mo. First let me say this, I've no problem with people coming into the U.S. legally, and earning an honest living. Now that being said. I'm in the construction business, I am one of the best in my trade, up until 15 years ago I was making $45 to $50,000 a year. In all aspects of the construction trades it is hard for all of us citizens to earn a decent living because we have illegal aliens coming in and low-balling prices to get jobs that they are barely qualified to do. Now some of you are going to say I'm a raciest, and don't have a clue as to what I'm talking about. To that I say BULL. Ladies, and gentlemen I have lived this scenario, I know exactly what I'm talking about. When I, and others can't make a decent living because there are illegals doing the work for half the price, and half the quality, there is something rotten in Denmark. Edit: Yes I know I'm ranting, and I apologize, but I am sick and tiered of liberals who don't see good honest U.S. citizens struggling to make ends meet because of this situation. When I say U.S. citizens I mean black white, Asian, Latino.... ztcca, Thank you, you just proved my final point.

What 'good work' are you talking about? The indentured servant sweat shops downtown? the day labor sites? the picking fields in ventura? I'm very confused about where all the good illegal immigrant jobs are? you did say los angeles right? And as for why people flee Mexico, greed, are you serious, have you ever met a poor mexican? Do you really think Greed is what drives them to risk their lives and leave all their loved ones behind? By the way, have you ever met greedy Mexicans, guess where they are, STILL IN MEXICO making it impossible for honest human beings to survive. Greedy mexicans don't cross the border to the US, they have no use for us, they are busy exploiting the same poor mexicans that the USA does such a nice job at exploiting. And as for the guy complaining about construction in FLA, you do have an edge over immigrants, you speak english and I'm sure you don't get taken advantage of.
